Thea grew up in a remote, rural area in the east of England living in a farmhouse, with a family who loved animals. On her 6th birthday she was gifted a horse ride with friends. She fell off the horse, sliding down a Gypsy’s neck into a patch of stinging nettles. However, a lifelong passion was born!
After getting a “proper degree” at University (BA Classics) she returned to college to qualify with the British Horse Society as a Barn Manager, Riding Instructor, and Rider.
An unexpected relocation to California led Thea to start working at several prestigious equestrian centers in Los Angeles. She has now worked in the equine industry for 30 years. She has developed a reputation amongst her peers as being a highly skilled and compassionate horse trainer and instructor. She specializes in English, Dressage, Hunters, Jumpers, Eventing, Stable Management, Horsemanship and Equine Therapy.
Thea currently competes in showjumping, dressage and some eventing. She owns and operates a 20 acre property in the Angeles National Forest, home to some of her own horses and rescue animals.

"My daughter has been taking individual and small group lessons with Lara for the past 6 months and it has been such a wonderful experience. Lara is patient, encouraging, upbeat, and an all around great trainer. Since taking lessons with Lara, my daughter has learned how to care for a horse, the basics of riding, and how to trot and canter. My daughter always looks forward to her lessons, not only because she loves riding, but also because of the positive environment Lara creates during her lessons. I’m so glad we found Roxbury Riding Club for my daughter. It’s been a great place for her to learn and grow in her love of horses."

"My 9 year old daughter began riding lessons about 6 months ago. She came to Roxbury Riding Club having never ridden before, but with a love of horses. Katie has not only taught her how to ride, but she has also taught her how to care for the horses as well. She provides children with a safe, confidence building, positive environment to learn and grow in. My daughter has been able to participate in Pony Club and Summer Camp with some wonderful children. Katie also has amazingly sweet and patient lesson horses. Thanks to Katie's and Lara's instruction, my daughter will be in her first horse show in a month. I highly recommend Roxbury Riding Club to anyone looking to begin riding or for someone looking to further their riding career."
